The Challenge
A homeowner in Kazakhstan wanted to fast-charge a personal electric vehicle at home. The household had a private garage, but neither the space nor the available grid headroom for a traditional floor-mounted DC fast-charging cabinet. At the same time, a standard 7kW AC wallbox would have meant very long overnight sessions for a vehicle with a larger battery—far from ideal for a household with a daily driving routine.
The customer needed three things at once: enough DC power to make a real difference, domestic-grade safety, and simple personal control—without turning the garage into a small substation.
The Max Power Solution
We deployed a 20kW SC Series wall-mounted DC single-gun charger, purpose-built for residential DC charging:
- 20kW DC single-gun output — wall-mounted and compact, delivering a meaningful step up from AC charging without requiring a large floor cabinet.
- Type-B RCD (Residual Current Device) — protects against both AC and pulsating DC residual currents, the appropriate protection level for a DC charger installed in a domestic environment.
- Surge Protection Device (SPD) — shields the unit and household electrical system against lightning-induced voltage surges.
- DLB (Dynamic Load Balancing) — continuously monitors household load and adjusts charger output so the home’s main breaker is never pushed beyond safe limits.
- Tuya control board (Bluetooth + APP) — the owner can start and stop charging and adjust charging parameters directly from a smartphone APP, making daily use intuitive.
The DLB + Tuya combination was decisive. DLB keeps the household safe; Tuya makes the charger feel less like industrial equipment and more like a consumer smart device.
