Home AC Charger Case Study: 7kW ACQ Single-Gun in Brazil

Challenge

A homeowner in Brazil needed daily EV charging at a private residence. The priorities were simple but non-negotiable: enough power to recharge overnight without an oversized DC connection, domestic-grade electrical safety, no risk of tripping the household main breaker, and phone-based control that a non-technical user would actually adopt.

A basic plug-in cable was too slow; a floor-mounted DC cabinet was oversized for the garage. The answer had to be a compact wallbox with smart safety, not a commercial charging terminal.

Max Power Solution

ACQ 7kW single-gun, wall-mounted

  • 7kW / 32A single-phase — practical home tier; ~7kWh per hour, enough for typical daily residential top-up without DC-grade supply works.
  • Type-B RCD — residual-current protection for AC and pulsating DC components, appropriate for a domestic EV charger where mixed AC/DC leakage paths are possible.
  • DLB (Dynamic Load Balancing) — continuously monitors household demand (HVAC, cooker, water heater) and reduces charger current when total load approaches the main rating; restores full 7kW when headroom returns.
  • Tuya control board + Bluetooth — app start/stop, current limit, scheduled charging and session view; Bluetooth provides local control without depending on cloud connectivity.
  • IP54 enclosure — dust/water protection for garage or covered parking-wall installation; ACQ chassis supports wall/column mount and 7–22kW family upgrades.

Results

  • Safe overnight charging — Type-B RCD plus DLB removed overload anxiety on a shared residential supply.
  • Owner-self-service — Tuya/Bluetooth app replaced call-center scheduling with one-tap start, limits and reports.
  • Right-sized capex — 7kW wallbox avoided DC cabinet, cooling and grid upgrade costs while covering daily home miles.
  • Upgrade path — same ACQ platform can move to 11/22kW if the household electrical service and future EVs require it.

Takeaways for Residential Buyers

  1. 7kW single-gun is the home sweet spot for most daily-driving households.
  2. Type-B RCD > Type-A for domestic DC-capable vehicles unless local code prescribes otherwise.
  3. DLB is what makes higher-power home AC safe on an existing panel.
  4. App/Bluetooth control drives adoption — the charger must feel like a smart-home device.
