Challenge
A restaurant operator in Russia wanted to add EV charging to its customer carpark. The goals were dual: improve guest experience (dwell-time charging while dining) and create a new parking-linked revenue stream. Constraints included a standard commercial electrical supply, multiple bays rather than a single high-power hub, and the need for per-vehicle billing plus remote operations.
Floor-mounted DC was unnecessary for 1–2 hour dining dwells; the site needed low-per-bay AC that could be monitored and monetized like a public asset.
Max Power Solution
ACP 7kW dual-gun, column/floor, OCPP-enabled
- 7kW + 7kW per unit — two independent guns, two cars at once; total 14kW per dual-gun unit, scalable across bays with additional ACP units.
- Independent energy meters per gun — each vehicle billed on its own consumption; no pooled-meter estimation, clean reconciliation for guests and accounting.
- Type-A RCD (with DC 6mA sensing where required by local code) — AC residual-current protection for public/commercial installation; final RCD type confirmed by Russian installer and ERC/regulatory assessment.
- OCPP 1.6J — integration with the operator’s cloud CMS: real-time status, per-gun voltage/current/power, session history, remote start/stop, tariff changes and fault alerts.
- Smart power distribution — OCPP load balancing allocates site capacity across all ACP units; as more bays are added, the transformer is protected without manual reconfiguration.
- Online payments + map-APP — chargers accept digital payment and publish availability/discovery through map and charging-network apps, so incoming guests can find and pay without staff involvement.

Results
- Guest retention — diners with EVs chose the restaurant specifically for on-site charging; average dwell converted into full AC top-up.
- New revenue line — independent metering + OCPP billing turned parking bays into charged, paid sessions instead of free stalls.
- Zero on-site O&M — cloud monitoring surfaced faults and completed most configuration remotely; staff only handled exceptions.
- Scalable carpark — starting at 7+7kW per unit, the operator can add bays or move selected bays to 11/22kW ACP as demand grows.
Takeaways for Commercial Parking Operators
- Dual-gun 7kW fits dining/retail dwell better than DC for most sub-2-hour stays.
- Independent meters are mandatory for fair commercial billing.
- OCPP — not a proprietary app — is what enables payments, maps, load balancing and multi-site growth.
- Type-A vs Type-B plus DC 6mA must follow local code; specify the full residual-current package during design, not after install.
